Before the interview
Thank you for agreeing to be interviewed! I’ll let you know a topic or a few questions I’m interested in discussing. I might use your quotes in one post or in a few different posts.
Please let me know before the interview if you only want your quotes to be used for a specific purpose (e.g., one particular article), if you want to be quoted anonymously, or any other requests. That gives us both a chance to agree on an approach that will work for us before we’ve put too much time in!
During the interview
I’ll record our conversation so that I can quote you accurately (and potentially to post the full conversation as bonus content for subscribers - it’s a feature I’ll be piloting soon). Please only tell me things you’re happy to have posted online. If you’d like to tell me something but don’t want me to post it, tell me you’d like to say something off the record, and I’ll stop the recording while you tell me.
After the interview
It can sometimes take a few weeks between doing an interview and me publishing the finished piece - please feel free to message me for an update. Occasionally I realize after an interview that it won’t quite work for an EA Lifestyles post, or isn’t right for the current season, and so I’ll let you know that I’m not planning to use it right now.
When I’ve written up a draft, I normally try to share it with interviewees a few days before I publish as a courtesy. Please don’t ask me to change what I’ve written unless you spot something that’s inaccurate or potentially misleading. Even though this blog is normally very positive, it’s still important for me to remain independent and write with my own voice.
After I publish
Please share the post with your family and friends! I’d also really appreciate any feedback on working with me so I can make the process smoother for any future interviewees.
