Writing for EA Lifestyles is super fun! Your work goes directly to the inboxes of other people who love EA as much as you do and understand your thought processes, struggles, memes and Bayesian updates.
Guest posts are great for the newsletter! Some people who read your guest post will finally see themselves represented in EA community writing, maybe for the first time. Other people will learn from your experience, and consider a perspective they hadn’t before. There are some pretty influential people who read this little newsletter; the community can only get better from them hearing about a wider set of experiences!
What we’re looking for:
Your post is about the Effective Altruism community (directly or indirectly)
It’s “lifestyle” writing - that could be food, fashion, travel, relationships, a fun quiz, a personal experience, or a lot of other things
It has a personal tone, like you’re talking to a friend or writing for a teen magazine
It’s easy to read (if you’re not sure, aim for below a 10th grade reading level here)
Between 250 and 750 words (if it’s longer, we might be able to break it into a series, and if it’s shorter we might be able to bundle it with something else, so this isn’t a deal-breaker)
What we can offer you:
Your post will be sent directly to the inboxes of more than 200 EAs
It will also be advertised on our Twitter account to 2500 people interested in EA
Some light editing before publication to help you feel happy and confident about sharing your work
Please note that we do not accept pitches for donations to a specific charity or recruiting employees.
Interested? Send a couple sentences outlining what you’d like to write about (or a link to your whole post, if it’s already written!) to ealifestyles@substack.com or DM EA Lifestyles on Twitter or the EA Forum. I can’t wait to read what you’ve written!
Why does this blog have paid subscriptions? Is it fundraising for something?
