What is EA Lifestyles?
EA Lifestyles is a fun, honest description of the Effective Altruism community in all its diversity.
We have two rules:
No research into impactful careers
No debating where to donate
Giving to others and making an impact can affect all areas of life, from how we eat and dress and party to our relationships with family and friends.
You’ll see two posts a week about these kinds of lifestyle topics, all through the lens of living life in a generous and intelligent way.
How did EA Lifestyles get started?
EA Lifestyles started as a Twitter account dedicated to humorous insights into the Effective Altruism community. Over time, it’s grown into an online community hub, bringing people together from around the world.
Who’s behind the newsletter?
Hi, my name is Kirsten. I’m a full-time mom living in London and I’ve been part of the EA community since 2017. You can find me over on Twitter and read my EA origin story here.
Are you going to sell out and paywall everything?
I would love to sell out! I just bought a house and I need to pay for it.
But no, I’m not going to paywall everything - all of my most important content will remain free forever. I do this because I love the EA community and I want people in EA to feel accepted as part of the community the way that I do.
I am seriously considering introducing a paid tier with less important bonus content (for example, being able to listen to the full audio of my interviews with guests). The paid tier would be free of charge for Giving What We Can further pledge members, students, and people on lower incomes. If you have any feedback on the idea of a paid tier, please comment or consider making a pledge when you subscribe.
